Okonjima is the home of the AfriCat Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue and preservation of Namibia’s big cat population. It has rescued over 1000 big cats since 1993 and released 86% of them back into the wild.
Okonjima Plains Camp is the main camp at Okonjima. The camp offers 14 standard rooms (4 of the rooms form 2 large, double rooms/family-units) and 10 View Rooms (including one family-unit) that feature a bigger veranda and provide more privacy as the rooms are set further apart. The old-style garden rooms will no longer be used for guests. Sitting between the standard rooms and the view rooms, 'the barn' is the camp's gathering place and includes the bar, dining and lounge area, the pool and the curio-shop. A second pool can be found at the old main building which is located right at the end of the standard rooms. There is a beautiful big garden area here to sit and relax.

There are three walks to choose from, varying in length from between 1.5 and 4 hours. Antelope often cross guests’ path and a climb up a small mountain is rewarded by fantastic panoramic views of the bush savannah’s sweeping plains stretching as far as Waterberg.
