Rwanda is an equatorial country in Eastern Afrika. The country is rather small (only about half the size of Switzerland), but with about 13 Mio people one of the densiest populated in all Africa. Rwanda is bordered by Burundi to the south, Uganda to the north, Tansania to the east and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west.

A pleasant drive along green valleys and hills will take you to Ruhengeri / Musanze in a bit more than two hours. You have the choice between several lodges. We suggest that you visit one of the gorilla families on your first full day and use your second day at the lodge to do a trekking in search for the rare Golden Monkeys. Gorilla trekkings can take some time and you may only return back to camp late afternoon.
