Accommodation
Safarihoek Lodge is perched on top of a hill and overlooks the plains below. The eleven thatched chalets all have en-suite bathrooms and private decks. One of them is a family room with two bedrooms. Eight of the rooms are luxury rooms that come with additional outside shower. All rooms are furnished with, minibar, coffee station and mosquito nets, air-conditioning, electronic safe, hair dryer and a small desk work area.

In the centre of camp there is a large lounge area, a wine cellar, a dining area and a small curio shop. During the warmer months guests will sit outside for alfresco dining on the outdoor deck. There’s also a cosy outdoor seating area complete with roaring fire, a good spot to watch wildlife.. Drinks are served from the outdoor bar and can also be taken to the swimming pool, a cooling space with the same infinite views of the plains below.

Location
Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier safari destination. Covering almost the same area as Switzerland, Etosha is one of the largest national parks in Africa. To the west of the park lay the silvery white salt pans and adjoining waterholes, which magically attract a myriad of wildlife during the dry season.

Safarihoek is situated in the Etosha Heights Reserve, which borders Etosha National Park to the south. With it‘s 60‘000 hectares and 65 km common border to the Etosha National Park, it is the biggest private reserve in this area. The reserve is mainly covered by mopane forest, but also offers several beautiful, open plains.

Safarihoek is located approximately 90 minutes from Andersson Gate, the neareast entrance to Etosha NP. Most of the guests therefore only do game drives in the private Etosha Heights reserve.

Wildlife
Wildlife observation is first-rate during the dry months. Guests can simply sit back and watch the comings and goings of animals as they gather around the waterholes. Large game such as elephant, giraffe, lion, cheetah and rhino are present. The reserve is famous for its big herd of eland and sable antelopes.

The area used to be a hunting concession until recently so expect the animals to be shyer than usual.

Activities
The game reserve offers game drives in open 4x4 vehicles within the reserve, nightdrives and bushwalking. There are several hides at the waterholes, especially the one closest to the lodge is rewarding.

Good to know
The camp is powered by solar energy.
