Marienfluss Valley is undoubtedly a particularly beautiful place. When the tall grass sways in the evening light and the sun sets behind the mountains, no one can escape the magic of the moment. From an elevated position, visitors notice that there are thousands of so-called 'fairy-circles' in the Marienfluss Valley, round spots on the ground, which are not overgrown and whose origin is largely a mistery.
The Marienfluss Valley usually receives more rain than the neighbouring Hartmanns Valley and often appears more lovely, lush or even greener. It is also home to some Himba who have built some small settlements here.
From the east the road from van Zyl's Pass leads into the valley, from the south the route coming from Red Drum. A small, hidden path leads out of the valley over the mountains into Hartmann Valley, a very scenic road. All tracks are rough, hard to drive and enough travel time must be considered, but the journey is incredibly rewarding.
At the northern end of the valley at Okarohombo you reach the Kunene River, which forms the border with Angola. The Okahirongo River Camp provides accommodation and there is also a campsite nearby.
Where we set up camp site will be decided on the way by the team. This always depends on the weather and the course of the day.
