Olmara Camp
Eastern Serengeti

Accommodation
Olmara Camp is a classic safari camp providing eight beautiful guest tents, all under canvas with en-suite bathrooms and clear vistas of the wilderness ahead. Two of the tents are family units. Some of the tents also have stargazer platforms with an extra bed where brave guests can spend a night outdoors under the stars.

Breakfast and dinner will be served in the main tent, which is located in the middle of the camp. An open fireplace invites guests to have a pre dinner aperitif and exchange experiences after another exciting day on safari.

Location
Olmara Camp has quite a remote location and is situated a 1.5 hours drive east of Seronera, the nearest airstrip. The vast plains surrounding the camp slowly merge into the more wooded areas of the Northern Serengeti and provide a spectacular scenery for big cat viewing.

Wildlife
The area was closed for 20 years to create a safe haven for cheetah. This is big cat country and the area probably offers one of East Africa’s best cheetah viewing opportunities.

Other predators like lion, hyena and leopard also roam the vast plains. Zebra and antelopes (including the huge eland antelopes) migrate to the plains, herds of 100 animals and more are often to be seen. During the rainy season, the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra also occurs in this area.

Activities
Game drives in the area, walking safaris, fly-camping.

Permanent Camps
Permanent camps do not change location and therefore have a better infrastructure than mobile camps.
Mobile Camps
Mobile camps operate in the Serengeti and change their location two or three times a year following the Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebra. Mobile camps have a simpler, bush-like character. Although the rooms have an en-suite bathroom, there is often no running water in the rooms. Bathrooms are then equipped with a so-called bucket shower that needs to be filled with hot water by the camp team on demand.
