Sasakwa Lodge
Serengeti, Singita Grumeti Reserve

Accommodation
Sasakwa Lodge is built in the time-honoured tradition of a colonial style manor house. The lodge sits atop a hill affording inimitable views of the surrounding plains and the Serengeti. Various wings house libraries, lounges, a large bar, billiard table and several rooms for dining. A huge green lawn stretches out in front of the lodge and melts seamlessly with the Serengeti plains. A large swimming pool with spa is situated next to the main building.

Built along the hillside with fantastic views of the Serengeti, Sasakwa Lodge offers ten luxury cottages, each with a private pool. For families there is a choice of two cottages with 2 bedrooms, a cottage with 3 bedrooms and a cottage with 4 bedrooms.

Set high on a secluded hillside away from the main lodge, the Hillside Suite is the ultra romantic hideaway for two. Featuring spacious interiors, two wooden outdoor decks, a private rimflow pool as well as a unique ‘bar-deli’ filled with delicacies, this is the ultimate retreat. Guests enjoy everything from private in-room dining to a private game vehicle, Field Guide and host/butler.

Location
Singita Grumeti Reserve (1'415 km²) is an exclusive, private reserve that borders on the Serengeti’s Western Corridor. Sasakwa Lodge sits high on a hill overlooking the sweeping Serengeti and offers views of the migrating wildebeest and zebra as they make their way northeast.

The lodge is accessed by air via Sasakwa Airstrip. The journey from airstrip to Sasakwa Lodge takes approximately 10 minutes.

Wildlife
Grumeti Reserve offers everything anybody could ever wish for from a safari, and the variety of wildlife is good all year round. Guests do not need to rely entirely on the migration of wildebeest and zebra, but can enjoy a safari here at any time of the year.

Sasakwa’s grass plains provide a habitat for thousands of topi and represent the Serengeti in all its beauty. Lion, leopard, hyena and cheetah hunt here. Rhino have recently been released into the area.

Activities
Daily morning and afternoon game drives, guided bush walks (for guests 16 and older), stargazing, swimming and board games. Massage treatments are available in the spa or in each private cottage. A fully equipped fitness centre is available, as well as two tennis courts with its own pavilion.

The lodge also organises balloon safaris (additional costs apply).

Good to know
Singita owns an extensive wine cellar showcasing a premium selection of the continent’s best and most sought-after wines. Guests can become acquainted with these bottled delights at every Singita lodge, where on-site sommeliers are on hand to offer advice. With few exceptions, all wines are included in the price.
