Kyambura Gorge Lodge
Queen Elizabeth National Park

Accommodation
Kyambura Gorge Lodge offers eight remarkably tasteful bandas with double or twin beds. The wooden floors, high ceilings and carefully chosen interior design give the rooms style and grandeur - your perfect home away from home in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Four of the rooms, the Deluxe Bandas, are larger and provide even more space.

Here are the Images of the Kyambura Deluxe Bandas

All rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, flush toilet, double washbasins, shower and a private balcony. The rooms are named after the chimpanzees of Kyambura Gorge and are slightly elevated on a hillside. Enjoy views across Queen Elizabeth National Park to the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains, which are clearly visible on good days.

The lodge has vast grounds - in the middle of it sits the beautifully restored main house, which was a coffee roastery once. The old building has been carefully restored and transformed into a modern living room. If the weather permits, meals are served on the terrace. There is also a beautiful swimming pool and spa.

Location
Kyambura Gorge Lodge is located on the eastern border of Queen Elizabeth National Park, just outside the park. This is absolutely no disadvantage as the game drives in the northern part are done on the Kasenyi plains. These are easily accessible via the bridge that crosses the Kazinga Channel at Katunguru.

Kyambura Gorge is situated close to the lodge. Descending the steep gorge and crossing the log bridges over the river requires some agility and fitness. Chimp Trekking requires a permit, which is issued in advance and the trekkers must be accompanied by an official ranger.

Kazinga Channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George, named after Queen Victoria's son, Edward VII and his successor, George V. The boat trips start at Mweya Lodge, which can be reached in about an hours drive.

A drive from Kampala / Entebbe takes about seven hours. Kibale Forest and the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park can be reached in about three hours.

Wildlife
Kazinga Channel is said to be home to one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa. On game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park you may encounter lion, buffalo, antelope, elephant and leopard.

The Kyambura Gorge, which is right next to the lodge, is home to the only primates in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The gorge is a maximum of 100m deep and the Kayambura River flows through it. The Chimpanzee trekking takes about 2-3 hours, but the chance of success is not as high as in Kibale Forest. Chimpanzee tracking is also available in nearby Kalinzu, a forest reserve 30 minutes drive from Kyambura Gorge Lodge where there is a community of about 40 habituated chimpanzees.

Activities
Game drives in the National Park, boat safari on Kazinga Channel, bird watching, chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge and in Kalinzu Forest.

The lodge itself offers various activities in the area, such as a visit to an active coffee roastery and various other community projects.
