Forest Chem Chem is your private, personal bush camp, designed for families and friends. The camp consists of three vintage-style tents and one family suite. Each large, double tent offers a king-size bed (which can be converted to twins) and the double-sized family tent offers both a king and a twin bedroom. Each en-suite bathroom includes an indoor and outdoor shower as well as a vanity, toilet and dressing area.

Forest Chem Chem sits on 20,000 hectares of privately managed land within the Burunge Wildlife Management Area (WMA), situated between Tarangire National Park in the east and Lake Manyara in the west. The concession borders over 25km of the Tarangire National Park and also includes a part of Lake Burunge. The Tarangire River, the region’s life-giving vein, flows through the Tarangire National Park into Lake Burunge.

Forest Chem Chem is located in the south-eastern part of the Burunge Wildlife Management Area.

Tarangire is first and foremost famous for its large herds of elephant, which wallow along the rivers and in the swamps during the dry season. The concentration of wildlife during the dry season can be extremely impressive, with good numbers of lion, leopard and buffalo; lots of zebra and wildebeest also migrate to the park.

The game in the private concession has recovered quickly since Chem Chem is in charge of the area. A lot of elephants and buffalos congregate around the water holes in the dry season. There are good chances to see lion, leopard, hyena and even cheetah. The amount of giraffe in the concession is astounding.

With some luck you may find thousands of flamingos on Lake Burunge.

The lodge offers game drives and guided walking safaris in the private concession, as well as excursions to Tarangire National Park. Further activities include walks with the Maasai, Community & Cultural Visits, Sunrise Hill Climb.

The game drives and walks in the private concession allow you to get very close to wildlife as off-roading is permitted in the private concession. Night drives are permitted in the private concession.
