Duba Plains Suite
Okavango Delta

Accommodation
The Duba Plains Suite consists of a two-bedroom tented suite. The Duba Plains Suite operates exclusively, as guests enjoy their own private vehicle, safari guide, chef, manager/butler and entrance to their residence. Duba Plains Suite is raised on recycled railway sleeper decking and offers guests fabulous views and a steady stream of wildlife parading past. This 2-bedroomed Suite has a wrap-around private verandah complete with a private plunge pool and shaded outdoor sala. The heart of the Suite is an indoor lounge and dining area. Each sleeping area offers guests beautifully appointed en-suite facilities, including indoor and outdoor showers and a luxurious bath. Ceiling fans and a solar-powered air-conditioning system over the guest’s bed area ensure that the tent’s design maintains a comfortable climate.

The Duba Plains concession prides itself on offering extraordinary Botswana luxury safari wildlife experiences, and many consider this region Botswana’s Okavango Delta’s Maasai Mara because of the sheer volume of wildlife.

Location
The suite is situated on an extraordinarily beautiful island at the heart of the Okavango Delta. Duba Plains Suite is only accessible by light aircraft. Omdop Private Airstrip is only a few minutes from the suite. Flight time to Maun in a Cessna Caravan is 30 minutes, and 1 hour 20 minutes to Kasane.

Duba Plains Suite is part of the private Duba Concession and belongs to Duba Plains Camp. It's sister camp Duba Explorers Camp is the choice for guests who look for a less luxurious camp in a similar area.

Wildlife
The Duba Lions here are extraordinarily strong creatures with highly developed neck muscles. This is not surprising, as they must often wade tediously through water - an exercise that requires a great deal of strength.

When the fresh grass begins to sprout, a large number of elephant take to the open Duba Plains to feed on the shoots in hours of detailed grazing. There are plenty of hippos living in the canals and waterways, and the plains and surrounding woodlands are home to a large variety of birds.

With the arrival of the flood water in April/May, thousands of red lechwe antelope appear on the plains. The animals often walk in a single line and it is spectacular to see them dash through water and jump over deeper passages.

Activities
Game drives in custom built, very high 4x4 vehicles. Night drives. Walking Safaris. Boat trips are possible when the water level is high enough.

Because the suite is located in a private concession, night driving with a searchlight and off-road driving for special animal observation is allowed. Close-up shots are guaranteed.

Good to know
Duba Plains was made famous by married couple and owners Beverly and Dereck Joubert, who amongst other things filmed and studied the lion prides native to Duba Plains over many years. The result is several wildlife films that are well worth watching: www.wildlifefilms.co
