The Old Rectory
Plettenberg

Accommodation
Housed in a national monument building full of character, The Old Rectory is a modern boutique hotel close to some of Plettenberg’s winning, golden beaches. Built in 1777 by the Dutch East India Company, the original Cape Dutch features have been kept true to its roots with a thatched roof, clean white-washed walls and beamed ceilings, which provide a historical topping to the otherwise modern design.

Each of the 18 luxury suites differs in layout. The décor is bright, contemporary and calming. Garden Suites are accessed from a stone path, have a rain shower and their own private garden. Closer to the pool, the Pool Suites have freestanding bathtubs and a terrace. From a back garden gate, you can walk to the golden sands of Hobie Beach in just two minutes – at night you can even hear the ocean waves from some of the suites.

There’s a spa in a historic little chapel for traditional massage therapies and beauty treatments. A sparkling pool with decking to lounge around and an in-house bar and restaurant offer enough dining and leisure options that you don’t need to leave the property, but close proximity to the town’s attractions make exploring just as easy.

Location
Located in the heart of „Plett“ (Plettenberg Bay) along the famous Garden Route, The Old Rectory is just a very short stroll from some of Plett’s most pristine beaches.

It is a 2,5 hours drive from Plettenberg Bay to Port Elizabeth.

Activities
Plettenberg Bay is the perfect base from which to discover the ocean. The winter months (July – October) are ideal for taking a boat trip in search of whale; dolphin can be found during summer and Robberg is home to a seal colony containing some 5000 animals.

Birds of Eden and Monkey World are very popular with children and quite educational. Robberg Nature Reserve is situated just south of Plettenberg Bay. It offers beautiful hiking trails and deserted beaches, perfect for a picnic.

The area is a golf-player’s heaven with Plettenberg Bay Country Club, the lodge’s own golf course, Simola and Pezula golf courses in Knysna (35 km / 35 minutes from Plettenberg Bay) and George, Kingswood and the renowned Fancourt golf courses in George (100 km / 75 minutes from Plettenberg Bay) all within easy reach.
