The name Anabezi is derived from the camp being situated on the Zambezi River and the many Ana Trees or Winter Thorns (Faidherbia albida) that surround the camp. These winter thorns drop yellow pods which attract a wide variety of animals to the area including many elephants, a welcome sight in the camp.
Besides the main area that compromises a dining area, lounge, bar, fireplace and the swimming pool around the corner, there is the completely separate Mushika Deck on the opposite side of camp. There is a second swimming pool here with a few sunloungers and a lovely green lawn.
The camp is located a small distance back from the confluence of the Zambezi and Mushia rivers in the eastern part of the Lower Zambezi National Park and is accessed by air from Lusaka (45 mins) to Jeki Airstrip. A one hour vehicle transfer takes guests from Jeki Airstrip to the camp. Charter flights may fly to directly to Kulefu Airstrip, located only a 15 minute drive from camp.
Anabezi Camp is 3km upstream from it's sister camp, Amanzi.
Lion and buffalo are often sighted and the concentration of leopard is high. The region is also home to zebra, kudu, impala, waterbuck and the most common species of antelope. Hippo and crocodile are to be found in the rivers.
Giraffe are not present in the park and wild dog and cheetah are very rare. There are, however, excellent chances of encountering aardvark.
