Amanzi Camp
Lower Zambezi National Park

Accommodation
Amanzi is a small, intimate camp, perfect for small groups or families.

The name “Amanzi”, meaning “water” in the local language, draws its inspiration from the site’s position on the Zambezi. The camp is intimate yet private with only four tents generously spaced and connected with a raised walkway to the main area. Two of the tents are configured to function as a family tent. The tents have an indoor shower and bathroom, as well as a private sitting area and a private, wooden deck.

The main area offers stunning views over the Ngwenya channel and the escarpment in the far distance. A good place to sit, relax and think about life. A path leads down to the river where the swimming pool and the open fireplace are found. The boats take off right from here as well.

Location
Amanzi Camp is situated in Zambia's Lower Zambezi National Park, which stretches 120 km along the Zambezi River and sits in the southeast of Zambia (4092 km²) opposite the Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe.

The camp is located on the banks of the Ngwenya channel in the eastern part of the Lower Zambezi National Park and is accessed by air from Lusaka (45 mins) to Jeki Airstrip. A 1.5 hour vehicle transfer takes guests from Jeki Airstrip to the camp. Charter flights may fly to directly to Kulefu Airstrip, located only a 15 minute drive from camp.

Amanzi Camp is 3km downstream from it's sister camp, Anabezi.

Wildlife
There is an unusually high number of elephant in the park. Guests can watch them traverse the river or roam the forests. Elephants often visit the camp itself, roaming freely through the surrounding trees in search of fallen husks and fruits (most particularly Winter Thorn aka Ana Tree fruit from August to October).

Lion and buffalo are often sighted and the concentration of leopard is high. The region is also home to zebra, kudu, impala, waterbuck and the most common species of antelope. Hippo and crocodile are to be found in the rivers.

Giraffe are not present in the park and wild dog and cheetah are very rare. There are, however, excellent chances of encountering aardvark.

Activities
The camp offers game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, boat trips on the Zambezi, fishing (catch & release), canoe trips and walks.
