Makweti Safari Lodge is a very private lodge with just five suites for a maximum of ten guests. The lodge stands elevated on a hillside and offers far-reaching views over the reserve and the Makweti Gorge. The water hole in front of the camp attracts various animals and since the lodge is not fenced, you are right in the middle of it all.

The five spacious suites are luxurious and come with large, private verandas, en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor shower, fireplace and climate control. Four of the suites have their own plunge pool.

Makweti Safari Lodge is located in the Welgevonden Game Reserve, a malaria-free reserve north of Johannesburg, which can be reached in about three hours by vehicle or an hour‘s flight by private charter.

The Welgevonden is part of the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Reserve and covers approximately 40,000 hectares of land. On the western side of the Welgevonden Game Reserve is the Marakele National Park.

Welgevonden Game Reserve is home of the Big Five - elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino. Rare animals such as the brown hyena, pangolin, aardwolf and aardvark can sometimes also be found.

Game drives and bushwalks (by prior arrangement). There are two vehicles and three guides available for a maximum of ten guests, allowing game drives in very small groups.

Self-drivers are not allowed in Welgevonden Game Reserve. The lodge guides are well organized and there is a strict sighings control which ensures high-quality safaris.

The area is free of malaria.
