Cape Cadogan is a boutique hotel in Cape Town. It consists of four Victorian houses from the early 19th century that have been beautifully renovated and furnished in style. They include the Upper Union Restaurant, which serves a delicious breakfast and is open to both guests and locals, the main house with the reception, lounge and various rooms, the annex with more rooms and finally the Residence, a private house with three rooms well suited for families. All houses have an indoor area with pool and sun loungers. Furthermore, there is also the possibility to be pampered in the spa or to steel the body in the gym.
There are 19 rooms in the classic Cape Cadogan (6 x Classic, 7 x Luxury, 6 x Superior Luxury), which are equipped with all modern amenities. The Luxury Rooms are slightly larger than the Classic Rooms and also have a balcony or an outdoor area. Finally, the Superior Luxury Rooms offer even more space and, in addition to a balcony or outdoor area, also have a lounge and a bathtub.

The coastal road is one of the most spectacular in the world, its vines produce some of the best wines in South Africa, and it’s bursting with great and affordable restaurants. If you play golf, then the Garden Route is perfect for you – it offers some of the world’s best golf courses within striking distance of Cape Town.

Leeu Estates, an exclusive five-star premium boutique hotel property with 23 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, takes central position on 78 hectares of vineyards, landscaped gardens and fynbos (indigenous vegetation) in the Franschhoek valley. Located between the mountainside and river, just a 10 minute drive away from the center of Franschhoek, it is the ideal setting for an elegant and sophisticated hideaway, offering superb comfort, fine dining and platinum service.
At the centre of this working wine farm is the meticulously refurbished 19th-century Manor House with its six rooms and suites. There are two additional rooms on top of the Spa building which sits adjacent to The Manor House, and the remaining rooms and suites are located in spacious cottages among the gardens, oak trees and vineyards. The cottages are usually booked on a private basis and are suited for individuals, families and groups of friends.
The rooms are all within walking distance to La Petite Colombe, Le chêne, Mullineux and Leeu Family Wines, Leeu Spa by Healing Earth and Everard Read – Leeu Estates. And guests have access to a number of walking trails on the estates, to meander through the vines. Morukuru Beach Lodge is situated at Koppie Alleen in one of Africa’s most beautiful coastal reserves, the De Hoop Nature Reserve, just south of Swellendam along the Garden Route in the Overberg region.
Morukuru Beach Lodge consists of four Ocean View Suites and the Honeymoon Suite. The Ocean View Suites are oriented towards the ocean and offer sea view, the Honeymoon Suite looks towards the dune belt (fynbos), but offers more privacy, an outdoor bathtub and a large terrace with sun loungers. All suites (90m² +) have been designed very generously and are equipped with en-suite bathroom with rain shower and bathtub, separate toilet and double washbasin. The western wing of the Beach House can be separated and is ideal for a family with two or even three children.
The facilities at Beach Lodge include a heated swimming pool and hot tub, restaurant, bar / lounge area on the first floor, a rooftop terrace and outdoor sunken lounge with fire pit. All guided activities on offer are complimentary.
There is a restaurant on the cliffs below Beach Lodge, the Bites Beach Café by Morukuru, which is open to the public.
Self-Drivers need to observe the reserve's opening times, the gates open at 7am and close at 6pm. Driving time from Capetown is about 3.5 hours. The private Morukuru Ocean House is about a 10min walk away.

It includes Cape Town itself, the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, the wine-producing regions Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek, the Overberg region with Hermanus and Gansbaai on the Whale Coast, the Garden Route with Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, and the stretch of Route 62 that passes through Klein Karoo, to mention just several of its main attractions.

Accommodation Situated close to Plettenberg Bay, Tsala Treetop Lodge is a beautiful accommodation option. Connected to the main building by wooden walkways, its luxury tree houses offer spectacular views over the forest canopy and the valley below. Its architectural materials include stone, wood, glass and the beauty of the forest.
Sat upon stilts amidst a forest landscape, the lodge’s ten Treetop Suites are actually tree houses, each with a large bedroom, lounge with fireplace, spacious bathroom and a private deck with plunge pool.
The six Treetop Villas have each two rooms, a lounge with fireplace and a dining room. Naturally, they also have a large deck and private plunge pool.

Accommodation Great Fish River Lodge uses modern glazed fronts in combination with earthy colours and traditional African safari style elements. The lodge is located close to the Great Fish River, from which it takes its name.
Great Fish River Lodge offers nine suites with en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, large verandas and private plunge pools with pergolas. The main building is where guests gather at the bar to exchange stories of the day’s adventures. An open fireplace is the ideal spot to warm up on cool evenings and enjoy a drop of South African wine from the in-house wine cellar.
The reserve is accessed in approximately 2 hours by road from Port Elizabeth. Alternatively, guests may choose to take a light aircraft to Kwandwe Airstrip. If arriving in a private vehicle, guests leave their car at Heatherton Towers, the reserve’s car park, before being transferred by safari vehicle to the lodge (ca. 45 min. drive).

Interesting for us are some of the safari parks. The first parks were installed around 1990 and slowly built up, especially in the knowledge that the Big 5 were once at home in the Eastern Cape in the last century. A safari in the Eastern Cape doesn't feel as wild as in other African countries, as we are much closer to civilization, but the parks are very good for families, as the area is free of malaria and many of the camps are very child friendly.
