Singita Malilangwe House
Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve

Accommodation
Perched on a sandstone ridge within the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in Zimbabwe’s remote southeast, this elegant exclusive-use villa was designed to offer families and friends the freedom to tailor their days to their choosing, with a dedicated private chef, game vehicle, Professional Field Guide and host catering for their every need. Malilangwe House is part of Singita Pamushana. Guests are welcome to use Pamushana's facilities.

Malilangwe House features expansive living areas and five guest suites with private decks, an interactive kitchen, a signature fully stocked Singita ‘bar-deli’, outdoor showers and a large infinity swimming pool. With its panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and beautiful Malilangwe Dam below, this contemporary African home offers an unforgettable luxury safari.

Location
Sharing a border with Gonarezhou National Park, Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is located in the southeast of Zimbabwe.

The nearest large airport is Buffalo Range Airport, which is accessed by light aircraft from Johannesburg in approximately 2 hours (Mon and Thu only). This is also the place where border formalities are carried out. The authorities generally only open the office for guests arriving at and departing from Singita. Now deserted, Buffalo Range Airport with its huge tarmac runway was once used for international flights.

Malilangwe House is built on a hill in the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve some 40 minutes’ drive from the airport. The journey passes the village of Chiredzi with its sugar plantations before heading towards Gonarezhou National Park and Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve.

Guests arriving by chartered aircraft can land at Lonestar Airstrip. This is located just 25 minutes’ drive from the house. Border formalities, however, must still be carried out at Buffalo Range Airport.

Wildlife
Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is Big 5 territory and offers all the animals one wishes to see on safari. It is also home to more than 100 endangered black rhino, which can often be encountered in groups.

The lake attracts a large number of birds of prey, fish eagle being the most abundant visitors. More than 500 species of bird have been counted, including 14 species of eagle!

Activities
The house offers game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night game drives and bushwalking.

If prepared to walk, visitors can also see the reserve’s various intriguing rock paintings.

A boat trip on the lake makes for a beautiful evening excursion and provides guests with an opportunity to see crocodile, elephant, hippo and, interestingly enough, an abundance of turtles. The boat can also be used for fishing.

Visiting the local community or a school is also a recommended activity. Julius, for example, offers a lively and vivid insight into life in his village.

A trip to Gonarezhou National Park is an ideal excursion for those staying longer.

Good to know
Singita supports the local community with its non-profit Malilangwe Trust, which has provided up to 30’000 children with nourishment. Singita builds schools and infrastructure in the region, and supports children through education and training.
