Astove Island
Seychelles

Accommodation
Astove is one of the remotest inhabited island in Seychelles. A dramatic landscape with limestone rock and sand dunes which rise against the horizon, Astove is nothing short of spectacular.

The single accommodation, Astove Coral House, ensures a unique experience as it only caters for a maximum of twelve guests. Surrounding a central courtyard, the Coral House has 6 charming and comfortable rooms with en-suite bathrooms.

Overlooking picture-perfect beaches, fringed by palm trees and with no other soul in sight, the lodge is wonderfully unique and completely immersed in the natural surroundings of the Outer Islands. The House provides stylish relaxation with Creole dining in either the indoor or outdoor dining area - freshly caught fish being a key ingredient.

Sundowners are enjoyed most evenings at a beautiful spot on the beach, allowing everyone to gather and discuss the events of the day.

Location
Astove Island is part of the Seychelles outer islands and belongs to the Aldabra group, which means it is very far away from the main island Mahé, 1041 km to be precise. Astove Atoll consists of two islands, Astove itself and Charlotte. The nearest Atoll, Cosmoledo, is located 35km north-west of Astove.

The island has a size of 7km² and is of peculiar shape. A single stretch of land almost entirely encloses a shallow lagoon, with only one winding exit to the south.

Astove can be reached by plane from Alphonse (2 hours) or Mahé (3 hours) during the operating season on certain days of the week. Operating season is from November until end of April.

Wildlife
The Atoll holds a large inner lagoon, white sandy beaches and a plethora of bird and fish species. It consists of the flat and reef dropping a vertical 90 degrees from ankle-deep water to more than 1’000 meters over a very short distance. The „Wall“ is known as one of the best snorkeling and dive sites on this planet.

The terrain varies from hostile shore breaks on the windward side, to calm coral flats on the outside and snow-white sand flats inside the lagoon. Its unique lagoon system is home to countless aquatic seabirds as well as the Caspian turn, dimorphic egret and red-tailed tropic bird along with a population of over 150 giant Aldabra tortoises.

Activities
Besides unrivaled fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling, Astove Island offers you an array of other activities, such as turtle observations, reef flats expeditions, kayaking and SUP, hiking in the lagoon mangroves.

Good to know
No Wi-Fi or cell phone reception on Astove.
