Walking Safari
Luwi River
South Luangwa NP
The combination of Luwi & Nsolo offers a romantic South Luangwa walking and bush experience. A sleep-out is also possible (mattress plus mosquito net on the riverbed plus ranger dinner) between Nsolo and Luwi. Guests choosing this option leave camp at nightfall, sleep out on the riverbed and continue the journey to camp next morning. This walk may include encounters with lion, elephant, hippo and buffalo.

2 nights Luwi Bush Camp, South Luangwa National Park

Luwi Camp is the most remote of all Norman Carr Safaris’ (current time + tide) bush camps. With only four safari tents built under shade-giving trees a short distance from the dry Luwi River riverbed, it is a very private affair. Luwi offers a very authentic "bush-feeling", a unique experience for adventure seekers and nature lovers. In the evenings, guests gather around the bar or around the camp fire; dinner is usually served under the stars.

Location
Luwi Bush Camp is situated in the northern part of South Luangwa National Park on the dry Luwi River riverbed, some 23 km from the Luangwa River. It is exceedingly remote. Vehicle transfer time from Mfuwe Airport is approximately 3 hours.

On foot Walk to Luwi River Camping
1 night Luwi River Camping South Luangwa National Park
If you really want to experience something unforgettable, spend a night camping out under the stars under the supervision of the staff. Dinner will be prepared on an open fire and one night falls, the stars will be as close as you may have never experienced before. Hearing the wildlife move around you and maybe hear a lion roar in the distance are moments you will never forget.

On foot Walk to Nsolo Bush Camp
2 nights Nsolo Bush Camp, South Luangwa National Park

Nsolo Bush Camp is another intimate bush camp by Norman Carr (current time + tide) with just five rooms. Nsolo is local word meaning „honey guide“, a small bird whose call leads the way to wild bees.

The camp is quite remote and traffic is very rare. The dry Luwi riverbed is situated right in front of the camp and it is hard to imagine how much water flows here during the rainy season, leaving this area completely impassable. Built a good distance apart, the thatched chalets sit slightly elevated upon wooden platforms. The open-air bathrooms are simple, but very comfortable and well made. One of the guest rooms stands alone, in the middle there is the main area with bar/lounge/dining and on the other side the rest of the rooms are lined up along the dry riverbed.

Location
Nsolo Camp is situated in the Northern part of South Luangwa National Park on the dry riverbed of the Luwi River some 15km from the Luangwa River. Travel time from Mfuwe Airport is approximately 2,5 hours.
