By Plane Flight to Sable Alley
2 nights Sable Alley, Khwai Private Concession

Sable Alley was build at the edge of a forest under shady trees. In front of camp, an open grass plain allows for uninterrupted views of the resident pod of around 30 hippos and any other animals that may decide to visit camp.

The main area boots large decks with many corners to sit and relax. An open fire place was build just in front of the main area, inviting guests to enjoy a pre-dinner drink after a successful day of safari. There is also a swimming pool. The whole camp looks inviting and pleasant.

Each of Sable Alley's twelve luxurious tents have an uninterrupted view of the lagoon, with en suite bathrooms, private verandahs and private, indoor & outdoor showers. Two of these are comfortable family units with two interconnected tents. Sandy pathes link the rooms to the main area.

Location
The massive 200,000 hectare Khwai Private Reserve (NG18) comprises some of the most fantastically diverse habitats in northern Botswana, including riverine woodlands, open floodplains, rivers and mopane woodland. The reserve lies in the north-eastern corner of the Okavango Delta adjoining the Moremi Game Reserve. NG18 is a private concession and in contrast to neighbouring NG19 self-drivers and mobile safari operators are not allowed to enter the reserve.

It is a thirty minutes flight from Maun or 60 minutes from Kasane to the Khwai Private Airstrip (Banoka), followed by a 20-minute drive to camp.

Camps in the concession include Sable Alley, the more exclusive Tuludi, the adventurous Skybeds, Little Sable amd the rustic Hyena Pan Camp.

By Vehicle Travel by road to Skybeds
1 night Skybeds, Khwai Private Concession

Visitor to Skybeds sleep on raised platforms under the mighty African sky. Each “room” is actually a multiple-story raised platform, with a comfortable bed on the top platform and a fully enclosed bathroom with flushing toilets on the first floor. Each Skybed is illuminated by lanterns at night, providing loads of romantic ambiance, but guests still need to bring a torch to manoeuvre around at night.

Less is sometimes more. Skybeds are about being outdoors and experiencing a night under the stars. Guests usually only arrive in the late afternoon, settle in and have enough time to enjoy the sunset. It is the time when elephants start coming down to the waterhole and guests can watch them from their bed and enjoy a drink. Dinner is served around an open fire at a communal table. A simple affair, but very enjoyable. Highlist for most will probably be the actual sleep-out on the platform when you go to bed and can't stop staring at the billions of stars.

A road transfer from the airstrip to the Skybeds would take about 2hrs.

All guests transferring to Skybeds from Sable Alley, Little Sable and Tuludi will fly (10 minutes) by helicopter to Hyena Pan. From there, guests will drive (35 minutes) to an underground hide where they will enjoy afternoon tea. Guests will then drive (15 minutes) to the Skybeds in time for sundowners and their night under the stars.

By Plane Flight to Pelo Camp
2 nights Pelo Camp, Okavango Delta

Pelo Camp is very personal and intimate with only five Meru-style guest rooms that are built on the ground. Sandy pathways connect the rooms with the mess tent and the lounge tent. A boma area with fire pit and an open-air bar provide a romantic setting for the pre-evening drinks or dinner under the stars. A great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the magic of nature.

The guest tents each have their own en-suite bathrooms with flush toilet and running water. In front of the room, a small outside area invites you to sit outside and enjoy the bush. From here, a small track leads to the romantic open-air bucket shower.

Pelo camp only offers water-based activities - no game drives. Certainly one of the best places in the Okavango Delta for boating and mokoro excursions.

Location
The camp is situated deep in the western part of the Okavango Delta on a small island surrounded by dense papyrus swamps and broad floodplains. The island is shaped in the form of a heart and Pelo means «heart» in the local language Setswana. This idyllic island is covered with magnificent fig trees and date palms and offers the very essence of the Okavango Delta.

Pelo Camp is only accessible by light aircraft. The camp is situated approx. 60 minutes from Jao airstip. The transfer consists of a short drive to the boat station, followed by a scenic boat ride to the camp. Flight time to Maun in a Cessna Caravan is 40 minutes, and 1 hour 25 minutes to Kasane.

Pelo Camp is part of the private Jao Concession (630 km²). Jacana Camp, Tubu Tree Camp, Kwetsani Camp and the premier Jao Camp also belong to this concession.

By Plane Flight to Selinda Explorers Camp
3 nights Selinda Explorers Camp, Okavango Linyanti

Unterkunft
