„Tengile“ is a Tsonga word meaning „tranquil“. The luxurious lodge does indeed exude a great deal of grandeur and tranquillity and is aimed at guests who are looking for a first-class safari lodge and enjoy beautiful design and impressive architecture.

The lodge is situated in a serene setting, on a bend of the Sand River where each area of the lodge offers magnificent river views. Tengile River Lodge offers 9 air-conditioned suites that are raised above ground level. The spacious suites offer elegant bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor shower and a private deck with a sunken outdoor lounge and private lap pool. One of the rooms is suited for families with two rooms and interleading doors.

The modern main building includes a restaurant with a bar and various lounge areas to relax and enjoy. A meticulously mown lawn stretches out towards the river, with a fireplace at one end. Facilities also include a curio store, a boma for traditional dinners and a pool, which is located next to the spa and fitness room.

The private Sabi Sands Reserve borders the Kruger National Park and grants access to a very game-rich safari area. Tengile River Lodge occupies a prime spot on the banks of the Sand River, east of Lion Sands and in neighbourhood of the famous Mala Mala Game Reserve. It's sister camp Kirkman's Kamp is located only a short drive from Tengile.

The lodge has access to 10,500 hectares prime game viewing area, famous for its leopard sightings and with no borders to Kruger National Park.

There are direct flights from both Johannesburg and Capetown to Skukuza Airport followed by a short drive to camp.

The Sabi Sands area is renowned for its excellent game viewing, and encounters with the big five are almost guaranteed. Sigthings include elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope and other species plus crocodiles and hippo in the rivers.

The lodge offers early morning and evening game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, interpretive bush walks and birdwatching. Spa and gym are available.
