Kanana Nyana is the most elevated expression of Ker & Downey in Botswana. The camp name Kanana Nyana pays homage to the Setswana word for small, celebrating the exclusivity of the camp with a maximum of eight guests. The camp occupies a lovely spot overlooking the Xudum River and the surrounding floodplains.

Each of the four thatched suites is individually styled and positioned for privacy. The rooms draw inspiration from the ancient forest in which the camp is nestled, reflecting some of the Okavango’s great trees - the Marula Tree, Sausage Tree, Ebony Tree and the Mokolwane Palm. Each room has generous indoor and outdoor living space and a private plunge pool. Kanana Nyana does accept children over 6 years, however there are no dedicated family tents and no child discounts are offered.

The central area is wide and open and features a bar, lounge and dining in distinct areas. The camp also offers a gym and in‑room wellness treatments.

Kanana Nyana is part of the private NG 27A concession, located in the southwest of the Okavango Delta, bounded by the Boro and Xudum rivers and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. The concession benefits from access to the waters of the Xudum River and supports a good populations of game all year round and superb water based activities during the flood season. It is a pretty area, dotted with lots of palm trees typical for the southern parts of the Okavango Delta.

Kanana Nyana is accessed by light aircraft. Flight time to Maun in a Cessna Caravan is about 20 minutes, and 1 hour 30 minutes to Kasane. Driving time from the local airstrip to Kanana Nyana is approximately 10 minutes.

Wildlife is consistently very good, with frequent predator sightings such as lion, leopard and wilddog. Elephant, buffalo, kudu, impala, giraffe, bushbuck, lechwe, zebra and wildebeest can be ticked off on your game drives and hippo and crocodiles inhabit the river channels and lagoons.

Kanana Nyana usually offers both water and land activities all year round: Game drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, mokoro, and seasonal fishing (Mar-Dec only). Game Drives are conducted with not more than 4 guests per vehicles, ensuring a window seat for everybody.

The concession is home to a seasonal heronry, one of the largest in Southern Africa, that is best visted from July to October. The heronry plays host to herons, egrets, pelicans, cormorants, darters, marabou storks and both glossy and sacred ibis.

As the camp is located in a private concession, night driving with a searchlight and off-road driving for special animal observation is allowed. Close-up shots are guaranteed.
