Mozambique's coast
2500 km sandy beach ...
Mozambique's coast is very long and stretches about 2500km from the border of South Africa at Kosi Bay to the border river Rovuma to Tanzania. However, we find that the best accommodation is on the islands of the archipelagos of Bazaruto and Quirimbas.
The Agulhas Current pushes warm water from the equator along Mozambique's coast to the south and makes bathing on this side of the continent so much more pleasant than on the west side of Africa, where the Benguela Current brings cold Arctic water to the coast.

The Agulhas Current flows along the coast through the so-called Mozambique Channel, which separates the coast from the island of Madagascar.

The south of Mozambique is often hit by heavy cyclones, which absorb the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and often cause severe devastation on the coast, usually in February. The northern coast, on the other hand, is better protected against the storms by the large land mass of Madagascar.
