The five luxurios cottages with private decks have a private lounge area with open fire for the cooler evenings and large glass pane windows to take in the panoramic view. The en-suite bathrooms have double sinks, showers, baths, separate toilets and dressing areas. One of the rooms is a family unit encompassing one twin cottage and one double cottage with a shared living area.
The main area contains a spacious seating area as well as a restaurant. On the ‚upper‘ deck of the main area is a little curio shop and lounge area with views over the lawn that stretches in front of the lodge. A wooden deck at the end of the lawn is built around a huge accacia tree and serves as venue for meals under the stars.
The Solio Conservancy is a 180 square kilometres private ranch that lies on the southern fringes of Laikipia in the broad valley between Mount Kenya and the peaks of Aberdare Mountains. Solio Lodge is situated in the Highlands region at an altitude of about 2035m above sea level so days are warm but nights can become cool and guests need to pack warm clothes.
You can also expect to see lion, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, leopard, cheetah and plains game such as eland, oryx, impala, waterbuck, thomson‘s gazelle and warthog.
At extra costs, a visit of Aberdare National Park (extra, 30min drive from Solio) is available to guests who stay longer at the lodge as well as helicopter flights to Mount Kenya.
Solio Conservancy is a very low-risk malaria area due to the high altitude.
