Ngaga Camp
Odzala-Kokoua National Park

Accommodation
The design of the camp is inspired by the traditional construction methods used by local Pygmy groups. Employing only natural local materials such as bamboo, the camps blend seamlessly with this remote forest environment. Once again, the idea here is that the camps leave as little impact as possible on the surrounding area.

Ngaga Camp comprises 6 tastefully designed guest rooms. Ngaga Camp is located in the heart of a marantaceae forest and sits on 3-4 metre-high stilts and have 360° wraparound viewing walkways that connect with the main area. The camp has a dining room, lounge, and bar area all on raised decks looking out into the rainforest. Pre-dinner drinks are served on the “star deck” and fire pit which are on a dropped deck below the main area.

Ngaga Camp specialises in gorilla trekking: Observe the endangered western lowland gorilla in the legendary forests of Odzala-Kokoua National Park, one of Africa's oldest national parks.

Location
The flight from Brazzaville departs at 09:30 and arrives at M'boko Airstrip (Odzala-Kokoua National Park) 2 hours later. A guide from Ngaga camp awaits your arrival here and takes you on the 2.5 hrs drive to Ngaga camp

Ngaga Camp is located just outside the park boundary in the Ndzehe concession. The Camp is situated within the overlapping home ranges of several groups of western lowland gorillas, two of which are habituated.

Activities
The main attraction here is the gorilla trekking which only takes place in the mornings. Using the skills of your trackers, you start at the point where the gorillas slept the night before and follow their tracks on foot through the forest. The maximum time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour.

In the afternoon guests usually head out for a forest walk to observe birds and other forest animals or visit a local village.

Why Congo?
This former French colony is situated between Gabon and the more sizable Democratic Republic of Congo. This largely unknown and sparsely populated country is a real insiders' tip among travellers - not least because of its astounding variety of forest and wildlife. This small, pristine country boasts the highest concentration of western lowland gorilla found anywhere.

Experience the thrill of the Congo with its dense and endless rainforest, beautiful lagoons and the fascinating western lowland gorilla, chimpanzee and forest elephant.
